Why is an intensive photography course the best investment for your creativity?

Practice makes perfect. And with our courses, you will be able to practice framing, composition, lighting, the message you want to convey with your photographs… It is a training that will allow you to take a step forward in the way you look through your lens. In a more conscious, safer and more confident way.

And if you have all this, creativity will come. In our intensive photography course in Barcelona:

  • You learn in context: you won’t memorise functions, but will apply them in situ in the studio, in the streets, squares and rooftops of Barcelona.
  • Save months of trial and error: two days full of guided practice replaces weeks of single videos and scattered tutorials.
  • Immediate feedback: our director and international photographer, Katherin Wermke, observes your shots and corrects small mistakes instantly, before they become bad habits.
  • Motivation and community: sharing the experience with six other passionate photographers (maximum) makes learning fun and contagious. And if you prefer, you can choose the individual course and you will be hand in hand with Katherin.

A photographic tour of Barcelona as a living classroom

The meeting point is our studio, located at Carrer Sant Salvador 107, local, 08024 Barcelona. On Saturday at 10am, to start with an introduction and then, at 1pm, we leave the studio and the city becomes a laboratory. We will practice travel, urban and architectural photography while you discover corners of Gràcia, the Gòtic or Barceloneta.

Each stop brings a challenge. Reflections, backlighting, low-light interiors… we’ll be at your side so that technique is not an obstacle, but an ally.

This photographic route lasts until 18h, with a lunch break from 14h to 15h. At 9 p.m., night photography is practised for two hours, walking through the streets of the city. You will discover that the night belongs not only to cats, but also to photographers.

And on Sunday, we’ll meet again at 10am in the studio to introduce you to lighting. There will be 3 hours of theory and practice with a professional model. At 13h, lunch break, and then, each student will work on a personal project to be delivered at 16h.

Wait, there’s more. After finishing this project, we give an introduction to Adobe Lightroom, and then you can put into practice what you have learnt to retouch your photos. The course ends at 19h.

Personalised photographic coaching: enhance your style

As we’ve already told you, in addition to the intensive group courses, at Barcelona Photographer we offer a personalised photography coaching programme for those who want to advance at their own pace or go deeper into very specific aspects. For example, in composition, portraiture, night photography or personal project development.

What does it consist of?

  1. Diagnostic session (30 min, online or in the studio) to find out your level, your goals and your style.
  2. Learning plan: we define a flexible schedule of practical classes and photographic challenges adapted to your availability.
  3. Individual outings around Barcelona: from alleyways in the Born to modernist rooftops.
  4. Critical review and editing: we analyse your images, study references and work together in Lightroom or Capture One to polish your visual narrative.
  5. Follow-up: share doubts, get feedback and resources between sessions.

Advantages of photo coaching

  • 100% personalised: you set the pace and the topics.
  • In-depth feedback: not just ‘what to improve’, but ‘how, where and why’.
  • Project-oriented: ideal if you are preparing an exhibition, a portfolio or a photo trip.
  • Direct feedback from Katherin Wermke. The director of Barcelona Photographer (lecturer at the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya and on the Elisava Master’s Degree in Photography) reviews your shots, points out what works and shows you the next step to polish your look.
