An international team

We are a team of professionals with over 25 years of experience in telling moving stories in different languages and formats.

We come from various countries. We speak Spanish, Catalan, English, German and Chinese, which facilitates communication with photographers and filmmakers from different countries and allows us to better respond to their needs.

Barcelona Photographer was founded by Katherin Wermke, a photographer with proven international experience. We strive to maintain a family ethic: all members of the team share the same way of working and understand the importance of a responsible relationship with the client.

The what is just as important as the who. That’s why we want to give you a brief overview of the professional life of the founder of Barcelona Photographer.

Katherin Wermke is an international photographer of German origin with more than 25 years of experience. She began her career in audiovisuals working in television production in Cologne and Mexico.

She trained at the IEFC (Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya) and graduated with a degree in advertising photography. She completed her studies in fashion photography at the School of Visual Arts and the International Centre of Photography in New York.

Her areas of expertise are commercial, corporate and portrait photography. She mainly works in Barcelona, Berlin and New York.

Katherin works for a variety of national and international clients, including: Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Airplan, Amouage Oman, Barrisol, BASF, Bayer Healthcare, Bolsaplast, Cemafon, Clínica Quirón, Cocunat, Deutsche Bank, Dolby Laboratories, Dubai Business Events, European Cancer. Organisation, Generalitat de Catalunya, Grisby Menswear, Grifols, La Pedrera, Lenovo, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week NYC, Nestlé, Pepsico, School of Visual Arts New York, Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology, Wall Street Journal Europe and Woman Figaro Magazine.

He also teaches the postgraduate course in Advertising and Corporate Photography at the IEFC, and is a lecturer on the advanced lighting module of the Master’s Degree in Photography and Design at ELISAVA (Barcelona University School of Design and Engineering).

She is co-founder of the photography studio
in Barcelona, Photo Utopia

Alongside her work as a commercial photographer, she is also developing her career in documentary photography, collaborating with NGOs such as Street Heroes of India and Mumbai Smiles.

Katherin is an active member of both the Spanish Association of Professional Photographers (AFPE) and the non-profit association Shoot4Change.

She has a strong commitment to visual art and a great ability to captivate through the lens.
